The Zonta Chiang Mai Club was installed on 29th November 1997 with Dr Somboon Suprasert as Charter President and prominent business and professional women residing in Chiang Mai. 

Zonta International goal is to actively promotes human rights for all women be it at an international, national, regional or district levels.  Zonta advocacy not only strives to influence and guide the drafting and passing and enforcing of equality laws, but as well as to change and enlighten existing attitudes, social norms and behaviors that cause inequality for women around the world.  Zonta promotes and nurtures true equality for women and this men as well, Not just legislative and theoretical equality. Zonta actively also takes legitimate actions, to bring attention to root causes of inequality and offers workable real world solutions with established results to better women's prominence and equality in society,

Zonta International's head office is based in Chicago, Illinois USA.  Zonta International has participatory status with the Council of Europe, and affiliated with the United Nations which enables Zonta to actively contribute to being a active voice for equality 

The committee and members exchange their opinions with other women in Asia at District 17 conferences including members from in Philippines, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
