In Thailand I would recommend not to get involved with any court of civil actions if at all possible!
However if you need a lawyer to set up a corporation or write a pre nuptial agreement then OK.
My first recommendation is to have a lawyer of your own choosing, not recommended by your future partner or wife. Who knows where their loyalities really lays! Ambulance chasers, bottom feeders have nothing on some Thai lawyers. Thai lawyers are very flexible and "clever" and if you think you can out maneuver them your fooling yourself, not them. It is said: It takes a thief to catch a thief, but when it comes to lawyers they know all the tricks. It was told to be by a Thai Judge that "In Thailand we write laws in big bold letters so we can go in and out of the law as we see fit." Remember Thai law is based on guilty till proven innocent
