Live Music Bars

Live-Music Bars (to hang out and have a chatty time)

Inter Bar See article

Tapae Road, Tambon Tapea Gate, 50000 Chiang Mai

This very chilly bar opens its doors at day and serves drinks and food. At the evening they have a live band playing a mixture of new and old songs in a cool Rock style.

 ● Café Del Sol

cafe Del Sol chiang mai

68/3-4 Charoenprathet Road, Tambon Chang Klan, 50100 Chiang Mai

(Facebook)

A lovely and by tourists good visited bar next to the bar Guitarman and on the opposite of Rasta Bar.

They play music from Reggae/Ska to Rock and Pop.

BKK Bar

Chaiyapoom Road, Tambon Chang Klan, 50300 Chiang Mai

A real insider’s tip and too less explored by foreigners is the easygoing BKK Bar (even if it is located at the moat road and near to Tapae Gate). They have every day local popular and well-known live bands playing good music until late night. And even after the bands stop to play the most stay there to sit and drink until early morning. This is also the place where a lot of young local musicians go to hang out if they finish working.

Snacks like French Fries are available.

Chai Blues House  Blues Music article

Is a blues spot that has proven that Chaing Mai is in fact a cultural center.

 ● Tiger Bar

Charoenrat Raj Road, Tambon Wat Ket, 50000 Chiang Mai

(Facebook)

One of Chiang Mai’s newest places to hang out and set up at the shore of Ping River (second building after The Good View or next to The Brasserie).

The furniture and equipment is deliberately ‘old trash’ what makes this place so stylish and unique. For example the big tables are old bathtubs with doors as table top. The small tables are constructed out of windows from trucks while the seat arrangements are big plastic container in which lemonade was once kept. They also have a VW Bus as Decoration and offer warm cooked food and snacks

The music they play is mostly soft but performed in new Rock style by good musicians and bands. A lot of Thai’s hang out there and sometimes foreigners find the hidden way to this nice spot (you first have to pass a parking lot - watch out for the sign in front of the street!). From time to time they have special events so check their Facebook entries to be informed in time.

 ● Blar Blar Bar

Nimmanhaemin Road, Soi 7, Tambon Suthep , 50100 Chiang Mai

(Google Maps)

A long-lasting bar which plays soft music (Thai and English songs). In addition very tasty warm food can be ordered and the decoration and arrangement of the surrounding is really nice (for example a little bridge above a small river, tree with a swing etc.). Although this bar is at Nimmanhaemin Road it is well visited by locals.

JJ Market Zone

Assadathon Road. Tambon Patun, 50300 Chiang Mai

A buzzing street and stuffed with bars and young locals. JJ Market in this case does not refer back to the shopping mall. Instead it means the street in front of it as there are many bars. It would be too much to count them all but one of the more popular one’s is “Hualampong” which offers modern live bands (but mostly Thai Music).

Unfortunately the most bars at this street don’t have live bands.

Lamphang

lamphun-wat phra that hariphunchai-01
ited in mid-town, Wat Phra That Hariphunchai was built during the reign of King Arthitayarat, a descendant of Queen Chamthewi some 800 years ago.A principal landmark is the 46-metre tall golden Chedi which contains a hair of the Lord Buddha, having nine-tiered umbrella, made of gold weighing approximately 6,498.75 grams...

Chiang Rai

on the bank of the Kok River within town area, contains what is believed to be the oldest Holy Relic even before King Mengrai built Chiang Rai. Doi Chom Thong has been a sacred site for aextremely long time. The site was surely reverenced as the home of local spirits before Buddhism arrived in the area.
