PunPun Restaurant

 

 

Pun Pun was set up by a Thai/American couple and sells organic vegetarian food, grown at Pun Pun Organic farm in the countryside outside Chiang Mai. It is a project aimed at supporting organic farmers locally, farmer networks, and propagating biodiversity. They produce organic produce on their own farm as well as sourcing from local farmers producing organically.

Even for a non-vegetarian they will be deligted with the fair and the cost being a very reasonably priced.

A pictiques setting, in the middle of the Wat Suan Dok grounds, monks are continuously slowly wandering past, and the backrgound sounds of interspersed with the monks chanting nearby.

Their food is:

  • Organic as much as possible coming from organic farmers’ groups and their own farm
  • Supporting local food systems being more global friendly
  • Diverse utilising various rare or indigenous herbs and plants
  • Healthy –  NO MSG, NO GMO, and NO PRESERVATIVES. They don’t use white refined sugar and use unrefined whole grains.
  • Vegetarian – we use no meat products but offer eggs and dairy in certain dishes. It will be clearly marked on the menu if dishes contain dairy or eggs for vagains .
  • Fresh – focusing on raw and lightly cooked foods which maintain their nutritional value.
  • Primarily homemade including tofu, soymilk, yogurt, butter, cheese, bean sprouts, fruit jams, baking, and salad dressings

Pun Pun’s opening hours are 9-7pm.  To get to Pun Pun, head to Wat Suan Dok then walk down the road to the left of the main temple towards the back of the temple grounds, it is on your right near the back.
