Music seems to be a big part in the life of Thai’s. Obviously every school has a band and the students begin to learn in early age to play an instrument. When passing by schools or universities you often can hear students rehearse. Further Thai’s are known for being passionate singers and that many good musicians can be found. In Chiang Mai it is not different and some make their money with playing music. Therefore not surprising that Chiang Mai has many music shops and they are easy to find in quite every part of the city. The most are located at Sri Phum Road and Manee Nopparat Road close to Chang Puak Gate (or also called North Gate). There are also some inconspicuous shops which sell next to house hold and electric goods acoustic/electric guitars. In specialized shops you of course can get everything you need.
