This is one of the few optical shops in Chiang Mai I trust. I have been to several shops over the years for reasons like my friends own them or a great sale that seemed too good to be true and well they were at best not good and at the other end a true cause of headaches and loss of funds.
It is a well respected shop which has moved and expanded since i first went some twenty years ago. It is now located in a fine shop across from Rama guest house in the old part of town it is in the middle of the farang section but most of it clients are Thais with the odd mix of expats. The owner speaks perfect Thai and English and is of course a local.
The shop has all the latest computerized equipment to test your eyes on site and more importantly the skill to use it, to its fullest. The professionalism of the shop is second to none in town, of course with the cute perky sales girls (hiding to reapply their makeup) but this is Chiang Mai. They more importantly have the skilled staff to cut the lenses to fit the frames in the same day. With most of the lenses being from the "Hoya lens" Plant in Lamphoon making the lenses for world wide export, you know the lenses are first quality. However, the problem locally is often lens crafters are not as exacting as they should be. Proven sadly on my husband, over the years, but not here at Vision Center they have never made a mistake.
To find the place look for the sign near Irish pub inside the moat. There is car parking in the back and I just park my bike on the slab in front of the shop.
